Call to Order.

 The minutes of the January 10, 2013 meeting were circulated to the group. The minutes were accepted as the minutes of the annual meeting of the club.

 Business arising from the minutes.

Liability insurance for the club was discussed. It was agreed that the current insurance would be maintained as different options were explored.

 Reports from Executive/Committee


The 2013 Year-end statement was reviewed.
The club had 41 members at the end of 2013.
Moved that the 2013 Statements are accepted as presented without audit or review.

The Introductory wood carving classes are going ahead as planned and have been very well received. The first class will be an Introduction to Wood Carving, instructed by Bill Dearborn on Friday evening and Saturday Jan. 10th and 11th.

The second class will be Beginner Knife carving projects, instructed by Bob Dawson on Friday evening and Saturday, January 17th and 18th, 2014. The projects will be a pumpkin, a mouse and a letter opener.

The cost for each class is $30.00. This cost will cover class materials, tool loaners (if required) and wood carving gloves. If participants already have wood carving gloves and bring them to use, from the previous class, the class cost will be $25.00.

An Intermediate 'relief' wood carving class instructed by Rick Brereton of Lac du Bonnet, Manitoba will be held on March 15, 16, & 17. Cost for the class is $230. This includes the blank and lunch for all 3 days. Send your Registration to Herb Klassen.


Moved that the Regina Whittlers and Wood Carvers donate $100 to the Alzheimer’s Society in lieu of rent for the beginner carving classes.

The need for a set of tables to use for our carving classes was also discussed. Tory Neald will be monitoring the marketplace and was authorized to buy 4 tables.


The club thanks Samir for the work he is doing with the newsletter.

Samir can always use content for the newsletter and members are encouraged to submit articles and pictures.


Bill Dearborn reported on the usage of our website for the period of May 10 – Dec 23.

Most of the visits originate from Google.
Bill requested that you let him know if you find issues on the website, and also requested that members supply him with content for the website.

Presidents Report

Linda reviewed 2013 from her point of view. She considered it a successful year and has enjoyed her increased participation with the club. Her personal hi-lite for the year was the Queen City Exhibition display. As a club she encouraged us to increase our public presence and market who we are. The beginner classes scheduled for January 2014 are also an excellent step.

Linda thanked the club and executive for 2013 and looks forward to 2014.

Spring Show. May 3 & 4, 2014

Linda Anderson and Bryan Milne from the WoodTurners have met and a poster advertising the show was distributed.

Moved that the Chip Chats subscription be renewed for 3 years at a cost of $54 USD.
