Once you have made your selection for your carving class project please let Bob Dawson know by Sept. 1st which is the cut-off date. Bob will be bringing the rough-outs back with him when he goes South. This is for members only. Anyone wanting to take the class will have to join the club

Cathedral Art School – is holding a Wood Spirit on Bark this weekend March 15th at a cost of $100.00. Mike Saretsky is the instructor. Website is www.cathedralartschool.ca.

Herb is attempting to have a carver who works at the museum do a presentation / talk / show at one of our meetings (gatherings).

Website – Bill Dearborn has been very busy over the last 2 or 3 months learning to be a website development specialist. The end result will be an up-to-date website that the club can use on any platform and at a fraction of the cost of what the club is paying now. $65.00 for this year. Bill’s notes on building our new website can be seen at http://blog.wjdearborn.ca/. A big KUDO to Bill for all his efforts.

Library – Dale Wenman is our new Librarian. He has been busy going through the Library to discover may duplicates of magazines and old Lee Valley catalogues. We will give the duplicates to new students and recycle bin the catalogues. Dale has obtained an Index for Chip Chats and Wood Carving Illustrated with Andre Beaudoin’s assistance. There are some cassette/VCR tapes. Perhaps some could be put on CD/DVD disc.

Dale will look at these tapes on his old machine to see what could be saved. Dale asked for some money to buy some stationary supplies for use in the Library. Herb Klassen made a motion to allot up to $50.00 for this request. Alex Tivas seconded. Motion was carried.

Newsletter and Website Content and Information

“Meet a Member” page – A member could interview another member. Dave Hornung will interview Alex Tivas.

“Tip Corner” – general invitation for members to send in tips.

Club Sign – Our sign is in urgent need of refurbishing. Ken Smith and Alex Tivas will have a first look at the sign and will let us know their findings. Our present sign is wooden which is the material we all use to carve. The Easel is in bad shape as well and needs attention.

Club Member ID Clothing – Discussion around vest, apron, T-shirt, ball cap. Bazaar and Novelty have our LOGO. There is a sewing shop on Victoria Ave. and Arcola. After much discussion Wayne Cann made a motion for Linda Anderson at her discretion to spend up to $50.00 each for 30 vests; which would include the club Logo but not the embroidered names. The embroidered names would be the responsibility of the each member. Bob Dawson seconded and the motion was carried.
