Secretary – doing okay so far
Treasurer – $5300 and 34 members to date
Programming – Chris Hammack’s class is a go for weekend of Oct 17.
to www.chrishammackart.com and select “Woodcarvers”, then select
“Roughouts and Study Castings”. One can then select from the selection
of “Barflys” or “Full Figures”. The cost will be in addition to the
class cost ($300.00) and will range between $16.00 to $18.00 for Barflys
and $20.00 to $40.00 for Full Figures. Once you have made your selection
for your carving class project please let Bob Dawson know by Sept. 1st
which is the cut-off date. Bob will be bringing the rough-outs back with
him when he goes South. This is for members only. Anyone wanting to take
the class will have to join the club
Cathedral Art School – is holding a Wood Spirit on Bark this weekend
March 15th at a cost of $100.00. Mike Saretsky is the instructor.
attempting to have a carver who works at the museum do a presentation /
talk / show at one of our meetings (gatherings).
– Bill Dearborn has been very busy over the last 2 or 3 months learning
to be a website development specialist. The end result will be an
up-to-date website that the club can use on any platform and at a
fraction of the cost of what the club is paying now. $65.00 for this
year. Bill’s notes on building our new website can be seen at http://blog.wjdearborn.ca/.
A big KUDO to Bill for all his efforts.
– Dale Wenman is our new Librarian. He has been busy going through the
Library to discover may duplicates of magazines and old Lee Valley
catalogues. We will give the duplicates to new students and recycle bin
the catalogues. Dale has obtained an Index for Chip Chats and Wood
Carving Illustrated with Andre Beaudoin’s assistance. There are some
cassette/VCR tapes. Perhaps some could be put on CD/DVD disc.
look at these tapes on his old machine to see what could be saved. Dale
asked for some money to buy some stationary supplies for use in the
Library. Herb Klassen made a motion to allot up to $50.00 for this
request. Alex Tivas seconded. Motion was carried.
Newsletter and Website Content and Information –
Member” page – A member could interview another member. Dave Hornung
will interview Alex Tivas.
Corner” – general invitation for members to send in tips.
Club Sign –
Our sign is in urgent need of refurbishing. Ken Smith and Alex Tivas
will have a first look at the sign and will let us know their findings.
Our present sign is wooden which is the material we all use to carve.
The Easel is in bad shape as well and needs attention.
ID Clothing – Discussion around vest, apron, T-shirt, ball cap. Bazaar
and Novelty have our LOGO. There is a sewing shop on Victoria Ave. and
Arcola. After much discussion Wayne Cann made a motion for Linda
Anderson at her discretion to spend up to $50.00 each for 30 vests;
which would include the club Logo but not the embroidered names. The
embroidered names would be the responsibility of the each member. Bob
Dawson seconded and the motion was carried.
