Regina Whittlers and Woodcarvers

Annual Meeting January 14, 2016

Present: Linda Anderson, Wayne Cann, Bill Dearborn, Peter Dielschneider, Herb Klassen, John Robertson, Ken Smith, Alex Tivas and Dale Wenman.

Introductions – We went around the room with each member giving a short introduction to themselves and their current project(s).

Nov 14, 2015 Minutes – Motion: That the minutes of November 14, 2015 be approved. (Peter Dielschneider/John Robertson) Carried.

 Information/questions/concerns from or for:

Doris Sheldon's Bark Carving Class with 10 attendees was a big hit.

When Tory goes to Manitoba he will be talking with Tom Parks about a Habitat Class.

Shareshop - It is our turn to host the Shareshop. It is free to all members except to meals and held at the Seniors' Centre next to the Neil Balkwill Centre. Herb tried to get May or June dates but had to resort to Sept. 17th/18th.

Treasurer – Herb reported that we have a balance of $5500.00 at the end of        January and we have currently 38 members.

Secretary – Wayne thanked Herb and Linda for proof-reading and suggesting     changes that would make the minutes more understandable.

Website – Bill asked that photos be sent to both him and Samir.

Newsletter – Samir could not make it to the meeting.

Linda talked about the upcoming Spring Show, April 23rd/24th. Herb has sent out forms to reserve display tables and banquet seats. 18 Strings have gotten priced out of our comfort range but John Gallagher will be playing his electric piano (which he has played for many prominent occasions).

Linda has put an ad in "Grey Matters" magazine for our Show.

Linda has received a $25.00 gift certificate from Chipping Away.

Posters and Hand-out cards are available.

Bill Dearborn is coordinating carving demos at the Show. Emile Gaudet has already volunteered to do Power Carving.

Linda is looking after publishing for the Show.

Herb mentioned that their will be a Consignment Table at the Show. Maybe members have duplicates of tools, etc. Someone will keep an eye on the table and will direct potential buyers to the original owners to barter. The club will charge a 10% fee to go to the expenses of the show.

Catering will be Kelly from the Tartan.

Queen City Ex - August 3rd to 7th. It was agreed that the club will put on another display as a lot of interest in carving and our club is generated from out display. More information will follow later.

Jean Marie Allard has a box of his cut-out remains. Members can help themselves.

      Other Business

Symposium - John Robertson spoke about the Symposium and in particular the high cost of $365.00 for the event. John said that he is going to ask if just a one day pass could be obtained (at a much lower cost).

Carousel Horse - A review of what has happened with the horse - four corporations were asked, four charities were asked, displayed at Regina Centre Crossing, all with no luck. Linda will be contacting the Kinsmen Telemiracle-maybe something good. However, if nothing develops Linda will be convening the Carvers of the Carousel Horse to see what can be done.

There was a Show and Tell after the Meeting. Thanks to Peter Dielschneider. Other members brought various projects to work on.

            Secretary Wayne Cann
